Let Dental Bonding Improve Your Smile

Posted on 12/23/2015 by Fady Ebid
A woman happy with her new smile repaired with dental bonding.Do you have a minor problem with your smile that you've always wanted fixed, but you don't want to spend the time and money on orthodontics or other treatment options? If so, dental bonding could be your solution.

This procedure uses tooth-colored resin in order to fix imperfections with the teeth, and by taking advantage of the treatment system, you'll be left with a more beautiful smile.

When is Dental Bonding an Option?

There are several situations in which dental bonding becomes a great option to improve the condition and appearance of your teeth:

•  To repair cracked or chipped teeth
•  To repair decay
•  To make the teeth look longer
•  To alter the shape of the teeth
•  To close in the gaps between teeth
•  To improve the way that discolored teeth look

What Happens During Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is actually a pretty easy procedure to complete. You won't need much done in terms of advanced preparation, and unless a cavity is being filled, you likely won't even need anesthesia. Your dentist will need a shade guide in order to select a resin color that most closely matches the rest of your teeth, but other than that, he or she will be able to get started on the process right away.

First, the surface of the teeth to be bonded will be roughened a little, and then a liquid will be applied. These procedures will help the bonding materials to better adhere to the teeth. The resin is similar to a putty-like material, and after it has been put onto your teeth, it can be molded and smoothed to the perfect shape.

Finally, a UV light will be used to harden the material. Once hardened, it can be further shaped and trimmed, and a final polish will make it look just like a natural tooth.

If you think that dental bonding might be able to improve your smile, contact our office to set up a consultation to discuss your options.
