5 Reasons You Should Be Drinking Through a Straw

Improved Oral Hygiene

Drinking out of a straw is more hygienic than drinking out of a glass or can of soda. If you are at a restaurant, consider all the people who have handled your soda can before it got to you. Do you really want to put your mouth on something that so many people have touched? A straw will help you to avoid these germs.

Less Exposure
Drinking out of a straw will help you to control the amount of your beverage that your teeth are being exposed to. Less exposure will mean a reduced chance for bacteria to stick to your teeth and cause erosion and other issues.

Fight Against Stains

If you drink dark colored liquids frequently, you could be putting your teeth at risk of developing stains. Drinking through a straw will keep those stain-causing liquids away from your teeth, allowing you to avoid stains and discoloration.

Reduced Risk of Choking

When you drink through a straw, you'll be controlling the exact amount of liquid that you'll be drinking at any time. This can reduce your risk of choking or accidentally breathing in a liquid.

Ease of Use
If you are drinking from a bottle, you'll need to screw the cap on and off after every swig. With a straw, you'll be able to take a sip without the convenience of tilting back your head to take a gulp.

If you haven't been using a straw up until now, it is never too late to start. Your white and healthy smile will thank you for making the change.
